Motorcyclist Killed in I-405 Crash

March 30, 2012-According to reports a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with another vehicle and the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. According to the California Highway Patrol the collision occurred at approximately 11:33 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the I-405 Freeway in the vicinity south of Sand Canyon Road in Irvine.

The California Highway Patrol said that the accident involved a 1997 Mitisubishi Eclipse that was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver identified as Leslie Juarez age 27 collided with a 2006 Nissan Sentra. California Highway Patrol officials said the collision occurred in the carpool lane and No.1 and 2 northbound lanes at the I-405 Freeway causing the Sentra driver to lose control going over the center median, where it hit a 1995 Toyota Tacoma.

The collision with the Tacoma caused the Sentra to come to a stop, when the motorcyclist struck the Sentra in the northbound lanes of the I-405 Freeway. The motorcycle has been identified as a 1999 Suzuki and the rider that was fatally injured has only been identified as a 32 year old from Tustin.

The driver of the Sentra was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and Juraez a resident of Laguna Beach was transported to Hoag Hospital, with minor injuries. Juarez was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.
